"A bird born with ill wings can never understand the joy in flying, yet life goes on knowing nothing else." [/size] Cobalt waters swirled at muddy paws, dirt being whisked away by a slow stream. Russet claws dug deep to the clay soil below the rushing liquid, their grip being fooled by amber rocks. The air around the water crackled, the heat rippling in waves that blurred the vision of most creatures. Dry wind weaved it's way through auburn fur until the target was submerged completely below water. Drifting with the current, the tiny body was carried with a weightless sense; like dirt being whisked away by a slow stream. Everything but the bubbling river was silenced.
Honey churned her paws. Water splashed around her as she powered herself down stream, setting herself a course to the other side of the bank. Currents pulled at her tail and paws until they finally touched the smooth, rounded rocks beneath her feet. Claws extended, Honey clawed her way to the opposite shore. Upon reaching it, the she-cat sat down and gave a painful shake and let her held breath ease out of her chest. Opening her squinted eyes, Honey took in everything. The patch of trees that glowed with the suns rays, but withered under some unfortunate lack of water. The cool grass beneath her drenched paw pads, and the silent buzz of a horsefly as it skimmed the air before her chocolate brown eyes. Honey got to her paws and strode down the meadow grass. Her father had asked her to come here, and simply look. She hadn't understood what he meant, but she had left anyways. × × ×

The smooth tortoises shell colored bodice sunk down by the bank; muscles churned and tightened, claws scrabbling for a firm grasp on the slippery grasses which swirled about her, played with by a gentle breeze. Ears flicked forward and radars opened wide, observing the quick waters which were crashing against the feeble stones. They appeared to be weaker than most, gradually drifting downward into the merciless turbulenting waves. A slight grimace was found on the kind, knowing face of Fruitfly; her expression was tainted by pain as her limbs flayed and panic spilled into her veins. She was slowly sliding down to the river, about to be swallowed by its endless abyss of fear and darkness. She gritted her teeth and was quickly overcome by determination; the source of it, she did not know. As the virtue quivered before her, she took it and sheltered it inside her heart, suddenly whipping around and bounding up to a safer, more stable place. Rugged pants stabbed her lungs as relief washed over her. Soft amber orbs blinked and darted to the river, still in fear of it whisking around her paws. Twitching her whiskers, she narrowed her eyes, pupils slitting with disbelief. If her glittering radars were not fooling her, her mind must have been, for there was a certain feline; a mere gray splotch in the torrent. The being was swimming from the other side, perseverance clear in her chocolate eyes. The cat reached the opposite shore from whence she came, which was the shore in which Fruitfly had just met her escape. As the other shook her fur and took those deep breaths full of hurt, the unknown feline then took off for the meadow beyond the river. Curiosity overwhelming her, Fruitfly followed.

ooc;; i'mma mess around with the top thing some time later. // Lying down in the cool grass, it was as if time stood still. The silent hum of a dragonfly breathed in her ears. On top of the sloping bank, it was like the world was laying itself out, waiting for a God to come and rule. A game waiting for the controls, the commands. Peaceful and beautiful it was. Every blade of land swirled with the rushing blue waters of a stream, a tree bowing itself against the breeze. Peaceful. And beautiful. Sand tumbling through a patch of turf, rocks ever moving. Peaceful. And beautiful. Honey could imagine it in utter chaos. A world that once existed. Fire. Heavy, frozen snow. Red dancing from tree to tree. Silent and deadly frost blanketing the ground in a never ending void. Blood and claws, teeth and death. Cries and cries and wails. The russet she-cat shook her head. Everything became simple again. Raising her head to the sun, Honey was momentarily blinded, letting her ears sense the world around her. The splash of a fish, the shaking of leaves...and light, airy paw steps. Eyes snapping to her side, golden eyes fixed on a tortoiseshell lump in the distance. Amber gazes locked her chocolate one. Images, thoughts and dreams raced through the tiny she-cat's mind. Amber eyes, the color of her mothers, but not her mothers. Call out or stay silent? What if it was Bloodclan, coming to hunt her down for something she had done. What had she done? What if something had happened to her father? What if it was a loner, and it wanted to eat her?
Honey, slowly, got up and unsheathed her auburn claws.

The intake of a breath was all that she heard herself do as she gazed at the landscape before her, which lay beyond the pretty gray tabby feline in which her mind had been focused. Her mission was to discover who this stranger was, and what her morals were. What her life was al about, and what she had done and would do to achieve her goals. Curiosity was a thing to behold in her cranium, her soft thoughts which drifted along in clever ways. It encouraged learning and discovery, in which Fruitfly was quite desperate to get at, especially with the life of a fellow cat. From whence the opposite came, and whom the other believed himself or herself to be. Her shoulders rocked back and forth, displaying sheer excitement for the knew knowledge she would acquire. As she took her first steps forward, the other seemed to have a slight hostile appearance. The closer she came, the tenser the other feline looked. Doubt began to show in Fruitfly's orbs, but she did not let that waver her slow, steady approach. Soon, Fruitfly had the ability to view the unsheathed claws with her keen opticals. This time, she froze, flicking her head upward to the other's gentle, honey eyes. Fruitfly believed that it was time she introduced herself.
"Hello there," she whispered politely, dipping her head in quite the civilized way. She wished to be as un-threatening as possible. Perhaps she could form a new friendship in this lonely world?

A tiny whisper collided with the dense atmosphere around Honey's ears. Reluctantly, an ear twitched, the apprentice sized she-cat absently picking up her left paw. The shadow of a puffy white cloud rolled across both cats, turning the speckled cat in front of her to a gray figure. Almost as quickly, the sun raised again, blurring the cats to a rainbow of colors. Honey stopped her cower, placing her paw back to earth. Turning her bright eye's to meet those of the tortoiseshell's, Honey gave a nod of acknowledgment. "Hello," a wispy, high voice breathed from the mouth of Honey. Twitching the tip of her tail, Honey gave a curious sniff in the direction of the visitor. Loneliness dimmed in Honey's gold eyes as her's met the friendly amber orbs. A pang made her chest ache, but she unwillingly pushed away the images that tried to invade her mind. Giving a shy, weak smile, the petite cat took a seat and sheathed her claws. This cat seemed okay.
